William Reid's Death Notices of Ontario is based upon typescripts Reid made from death notices found in twenty-one different Ontario newspapers. The arrangement is by newspaper and thereunder chronologically, and once again all names and places mentioned in the notices are easily looked up in the two indexes at the back of the book. In most cases, we find the name, date and place of death plus one or more of the following bits of additional information: cause of death, names of parents, spouse or siblings, profession or military affiliation, place of birth or foreign origin, and education.
